Named by our aviator and artist clients, the Wing House is located in the Nelson Preserve neighborhood of Suncadia in eastern Washington.

Designed to inspire a sense of freedom, the modern home takes advantage of southern and westerly mountain views. A deep roof overhang optimizes solar heat gain in the winter and blocks out the hot summer sun.

The generous roof also provides a protected outdoor seating area that anchors around an outdoor fire pit. During the warmer months, the dining space opens up so that the table can move out onto the patio.

The entry sequence provides a view of the vistas beyond and direct connection to the hub of the home. Flanking the main living spaces are a master suite on the north and guest suite on the south. A small nook off the living area acts as cozy movie room that can be closed off with large sliding barn doors.

As architects, part of our job is to weave the various requirements with the client’s ideas and goals to create a design solution that meets both the big picture dreams as well as the technical minutia.
