Designed for a sloped lot in the Nelson Preserve area of Suncadia in eastern Washington, this home is situated within its building site to take advantage of solar orientation and views towards the south. The house is 1,575 sf on each floor plus a 280 sf loft space above the kitchen and a 570 sf guest suite above the garage for a total of approximately 4,000 sf of living space. In addition, the garage is 665 sf. The main floor consists of the great room and master suite with a generous exterior deck. The lower level below includes three additional bedrooms with 2 bathrooms, a family movie room and mechanical/storage room. The design integrates existing contours to minimize re-grading and disturbance of the natural environment. The entry to the home is defined by a covered bridge to manage snow between the house and garage. The exterior materials of the home are a natural, modern palette of rusted corten steel and dark stained cedar, board-formed concrete and a dark gray metal roof.
