Get ready for a let-down people – we made no physical progress last week. Kyle was in Miami most of the week/weekend for the AIA (American Institute of Architects) conference. I would have been there with him, but was busy getting my education on and not feeling hardcore enough to throw a skylight on my back and haul it to the roof.
I’ll leave you with a few slightly grainy iphone photos:
[I know, a Ferrari. It was just a rental. A fun reward for months of manual labor. And he loved it.]
It was nice to have the weekend off, but of course we’re both itching to dive back in. We’ve done a few small things and continue to cross things off the “to decide” or “to order” list so we’ll have some more updates this week. The roof window should arrive this week and if weather permits, we’ll have two more holes of light by the end of the weekend.
Also, thanks for all of the audio advice that we received. We’re still working out what will be the best set-up for us, but we’re getting there!
Super jealous…of the rental! 🙂
And I thought of you this weekend when it was so beautiful here in Seattle! I thought, “Chezerby will be done with their skylights for sure with all this sunshine!” Ha! Hopefully we’ll be getting lots more weekends like this past one!
Haha, I know…it would have been perfect weather! This weekend is forecasted to be nice (or at least dry!) so we’ll keep our fingers crossed!
Ha! You described a picture of the beach as “grainy”! P.S. The car pics were awesome. Can’t wait to hear about that. : )
It was a really good business/mini vacay. I’m ready to work on the house again though. After the remodel I will be diverting some funds to a Ferrari savings account!
Is the SBA course much different from LEED AP certification? Wondering also how they differ in terms of perception within the industry.
The beach looks awesome! Hopefully it was swimming weather 🙂
Hey Katia,
I would say the content of the SBA course is similar to what you would study for LEED. However, the SBA course is 9 months (18 classes) so it’s a lot more involved. LEED is probably more recognized now, but the SBA course has grown quite a bit over the last several years. I think one of the issues with LEED early on was that so many people were becoming AP’s and they didn’t necessarily have the presumed background and knowledge. I think that will change with the restructuring of the LEED accredidation process though.
Thanks, good to know! I agree, it will be better for the industry overall with the restructuring of LEED accreditation, so that people like me (=with no background/knowledge) can’t get their AP certification anymore 🙂
