West Seattle Remodel

Currently under construction, this 1930’s home in the West Seattle neighborhood was in need of a more functional layout. Although there was space to add on, the homeowners wanted to maintain the concept of small space living as much as possible. And with a footprint of less than 600 SF, this meant thinking creatively! The new design includes living spaces, a bathroom and bedroom on the main level with two additional bedrooms, a bathroom, laundry room and small office nook on the lower level. The addition of a new mudroom at the entry provides much-needed storage as well as a better transition into the home’s main living area. The homeowners (who plan to DIY much of the construction) wanted to minimize major changes to the exterior, so we worked with existing window and door locations as much as possible. The design also allows for the phasing of construction between the lower level and main floor, allowing the homeowners to live in the home during the process.
