Green Lake Basement Remodel

Currently wrapping up construction, this remodel in the Green Lake neighborhood of Seattle consisted of a complete basement overhaul and new stair connecting to the main floor. The existing unfinished basement had a short ceiling height, so after weighing a few different options the decision was made to dig down. As part of that process a portion of the existing crawl space was also converted to full-height living space. A new switchback stair was located in an underused portion of a main floor bedroom, creating a more efficient basement layout than the existing stair would have allowed. The finished basement will nearly double the usable space of the home and will include a bedroom, family room, bathroom and laundry/mechanical room. Kudos to the homeowners for taking on much of the construction themselves while living in the home!
